California has set the ambitious goal of achieving 100% renewable energy and zero-carbon electricity by the end of 2045. A huge aspect of the State’s plan to achieve this goal is the successful implementation of offshore wind energy. In 2022, regulatory approvals were granted to move forward with two designated development areas off of the California coast, and auctions were held. This is a huge step forward in the effort to bring offshore wind to California.
The USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy, the USC Gould School of Law, and the Energy Industries Council are pleased to sponsor and host a roundtable law and policy discussion on the future of offshore wind energy in California. This free program will address a number of the business, policy, and legal issues raised by this new development, including many of the opportunities and challenges posed by offshore wind.
