Kayla Birns is an associate in the Firm's Los Angeles office. She defends employers before courts and administrative agencies in cases involving discharge, discipline, discrimination, and other employment-related matters. She also counsels employers on a wide range of issues, including compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and the resolution of employment disputes. Ms. Birns also devotes a significant portion of her practice to representing healthcare and educational institutions in connection with staff, faculty, and student issues.
Before joining Musick Peeler, Ms. Birns specialized in complex commercial litigation at a national firm, where she defended clients in a broad range of actions before state and federal courts. In law school, Ms. Birns earned CALI and Witkin awards for highest grade in Immigration Law, worked as an Immigration Law teaching assistant, and participated in the school's Immigrants Rights Clinic. She has pro bono experience representing asylum applicants.
Ms. Birns is fluent in Hebrew.
