Donna B. Vasquez is a partner in the Firm's Los Angeles office. She is a seasoned litigator representing public and private entities in complex civil matters, particularly in the areas of labor & employment and construction.
In the labor & employment field, Ms. Vasquez handles litigation involving wage and hour law (including the Private Attorney General Act), leaves of absence, discrimination, discipline, and discharge issues. In addition, she has successfully defended cases involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unfair competition, and intentional infliction of emotional distress before state and federal courts, and administrative agencies such as the California Department of Industrial Relations, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the United States Department of Labor. While Ms. Vasquez is a very experienced trial attorney, she also provides her clients with significant counseling and resources to avoid litigation. In the event a lawsuit can’t be prevented, she works to achieve economic victories for her clients by way of early motions to dismiss, summary judgment, and leveraging cases to produce nuisance value resolutions. Ms. Vasquez's clients include private and public entities, as well as non-profit organizations, such as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
In the construction and development field, Ms. Vasquez has handled numerous cases involving alleged violations of wage and hour laws for private and public works projects, substantial construction contract and Miller Act bond claims, take-over agreements, wrongful termination of construction contracts, and other construction contract disputes. She has litigated matters involving surety bonds (including payment, performance, mechanic's lien release, stop notice release and contractor license bonds), design-build and guaranteed maximum price contracts, the False Claims Act, prevailing wage assessments and audits, delay damages, construction defects, mechanic’s liens, professional design liens, and stop notices.
Ms. Vasquez has served as lead counsel in multiparty lawsuits involving high-profile clients as well as trial counsel for several publically traded companies and public entities. She has successfully defended numerous multi-million dollar disputes and has obtained favorable settlements.
