David Boyce is a partner in the Firm's Los Angeles office. Mr. Boyce practices primarily in the areas of state and federal taxation and business law, including mergers and acquisitions, tax planning and tax controversy representation. His areas of practice include taxable and tax-free acquisitions, partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, cooperatives, exempt organizations, individuals, and real estate.
Mr. Boyce is certified as a specialist in taxation law by the California Board of Legal Specialization. While studying for his Master of Laws degree in taxation, Mr. Boyce served as Attorney-Adviser to Judge Howard A. Dawson Jr., in the United States Tax Court (1977-1979). Prior to joining Musick Peeler, Mr. Boyce was a partner at the international law firm of Jones Day.
Mr. Boyce has been a frequent lecturer on tax matters and has taught in the graduate tax programs of Loyola Law School Los Angeles, the University of San Diego College of Law, and Golden Gate University. Courses taught and speaking engagements include corporate tax, corporate reorganizations, taxation of partnerships, executive compensation, characterization and timing of income, taxation of property transactions, and international joint ventures.
