Experience

David A. Ossentjuk is a partner in the Westlake Village offices of Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP. He specializes in oil and gas transactions, administrative matters, and litigation, including conveyances, leasing, operations, title issues, joint ventures and operating agreements, and compliance with federal, state and local oil and gas regulations, including CEQA and related permitting issues. Mr. Ossentjuk also handles business, real estate and environmental litigation. He has successfully litigated and tried business disputes involving claims for breach of contract, trespass, nuisance, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, business torts, corporate and partnership dissolution, and insurance coverage.

Mr. Ossentjuk has significant experience in the purchase, sale and development of environmentally impacted properties, including the negotiation and litigation of environmental aspects of purchase and sale agreements, leases, joint ventures and partnerships, oil field development and abandonment agreements, environmental insurance policies, land use entitlements, and prospective purchaser agreements.

Mr. Ossentjuk is a member of the Sections on Litigation, Environmental Law, and Real Estate Law of the California State Bar; the Sections on Litigation and Energy, Environment and Resources of the American Bar Association; and the National Brownfields Association. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Bar Association, and presently serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Ventura County Economic Development Association. He is a regular speaker at seminars and workshops, particularly on oil and gas matters.
