MICHAEL W. MONK
ExperienceMike Monk is a partner in the firm's Los Angeles office. His practice includes representing management in all aspects of labor relations, including state and federal employment litigation, wrongful discharge, employer relations with unions, labor issues emanating from the sale and purchase of businesses, collective bargaining (resisting organizing, arbitrations, injunctions, negotiations, contract litigation), wage and hour laws, counseling regarding discipline and discharge of employees, personal service agreements, employment discrimination, unemployment insurance and the defense of employers in other employment-related matters. From 1990-1994 Mr. Monk was also a minority owner of the San Diego Padres baseball team, and during that period represented the Padres in all labor and employment matters. Mr. Monk has been twice named a "Super Lawyer" by Los Angeles Magazine.
Mr. Monk has been an adjunct professor at Loyola University Law School, having taught the beginning course in Labor Law. He has also taught courses on Labor and Employment Law at California State University, Los Angeles, and the University of Redlands. He also has written a column on wrongful discharge in the California Civil Litigation Reporter. Mr. Monk is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
