Environmental partners help city in major settlement of wastewater discharge dispute02.11.2009William Carter and Greg Patterson represented a city located in Napa County, in a settlement with AMCAN Beverages, Inc. , a subsidiary of the Coca-Cola Company, resolving violations by AMCAN of a waste water discharge permit issued by the city, allowing AMCAN to discharge treated wastewaters into the city's publicly-owned treatment works. Under the settlement, AMCAN agreed to pay the city $7.59 million dollars which includes a civil penalty of $3.5 million dollars, the largest civil fine ever imposed against a food or bottling company for violations of a waste water discharge permit. |
