David Lester and Adam Johnson Win Wrongful Termination Suit

David Lester and Adam Johnson successfully defended an insurance brokerage firm against a fraud and wrongful termination claim brought by a former employee.  The former employee alleged that he had been fraudulently induced to join the firm, and was wrongfully terminated after he transitioned a substantial book of business to the firm.  The brokerage contended that it properly terminated the employee under the at-will provision of his employment contract after evidence surfaced that the employee had engaged in an improper relationship with a subordinate and threatened to kill a coworker.  The action involved claims of fraud, wrongful inducement to change employment, breach of contract, and punitive damages.  After a two-week binding arbitration in late March 2010, the arbitrator issued an award in favor of the brokerage on all claims.
